Sub.: Call for Peace and Harmony. Humble request to your Office to publish Public Appeal in Newspapers and issue Orders to various Chief Secretaries of States, particularly the State of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand calling for Peace and Harmony among people of various States and for strict legal action against spread of hate messages and hate crimes.

Hon’ble Respected Home Minister Shri Amit Shah,

I am a practicing Advocate at New Delhi and on behalf of my Colleague Advocates,
I am constrained to address this humble representation to your Office with respect to increasing Assault and Hate Crimes against the minority Sikh Community traveling to Himachal Pradesh and in other States in India, and the substantial increase in the spread of hate against the Sikh Minority Community on various Social Media Platforms.

It is noticed that there is increase in Hate Crimes against the Sikh Community particularly in State of Himachal Pradesh,  Uttrakhand and Haryana. Anger is being vented out on innocent people by the local residents of the States. And the Authorities are making no effort to bring peace and harmony among people.

Respected Sir, Sikhs are always at the forefront protecting the dignity and rights of people.  In every Prayer “Ardas” we pray for “sarbat da bhalla” – may Almighty bless everyone.

Recently there was an Assault on a Sikh man in Kaithal Haryana who was thrashed and called by different names by the assailants, the more recent Mob attack on a Punjab origin Spanish Couple at Himachal Pradesh’s Dalhousie and gang Rape Case of a 13 year old minor Sikh Girl (daughter of a Granthi of a Gurudwara Sahib) at Pilibhit District of Uttar Pradesh. Further, an incident happened today outside the Hotel at Nurpur town Himachal Pradesh,  the locals broke the real windshields of more than 8 Cars bearing name plate of Punjab and one of Rajasthan. Earlier there were assaults on Youths traveling on Motorbikes to Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib and to Gurudwara Hemkunt Sahib.

Respected Sir, we, as Sikhs strive to follow our Guru Sahib’s Teachings and serve Humanity with utmost devotion and love our Country. Our History and dedication to our Nation in any crisis, be it in War, Covid Pandemic etc speaks volumes of our love for our Motherland.

It is extremely sad and alarming as to how hatred is being spread against the minority Sikh Community and Sikhs are bring assaulted in various States without any reason by our Hindu Brothers.

It is pertinent to state here that during the period of Maharaja Ranjit Singh,  the entire State of J & K, State of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab were under Sikh Empire and they all prospered. Maharaja Ranjit Singh gave equal treatment to all. He encouraged Trade and ensured that people lived peacefully.

It is important to bring peace and harmony in our Country. Without peace and harmony there cannot be prosperity. “Eye for an Eye” will only make the World blind.

Under these circumstances,  I request your Office to publish a Public Appeal in leading Newspapers and issue Orders to various Chief Secretaries of States, particularly the State of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand calling for peace and harmony among people of various States and for strict legal action against spread of hate and hate crimes and state that anyone spreading hate through Social Media Platforms and indulging in Hate Crimes shall be liable for strict Legal action by the CBI and NIA.
