Quami Insaaf Morcha, a permanent sit-in agitation started on the Chandigarh-Mohali border by a host of Sikh bodies to demand the release of “Bandi Singhs”, or Sikh prisoners, Sikh political prisoners languishing in jails after having served their terms. These people were jailed in the 1980s and 1990s, the period of militancy in Punjab.
Quami Insaaf Morcha started on January 7 from the Amb Sahib Gurdwara in Mohali.
Other goals include-
• Immediate and verifiable action against culprits of Behbal Kalan Firing incident
• Action against culprits of Bargari sacrilege incident
• Investigation and police action in connection to missing swaroops of Guru Granth Sahib
• Some organisations demanded opening of trade routes with Pakistan for the benefit of Punjab’s farmers and businesses.
